Potty training a puppy to use the restroom outside?
Okay, I just got him Saturday and already my house smells like a kennel. I’ve walked him around the block, sat outside with him for thirty minutes at a time and it never fails that once we get back inside he pees on the floor.
Any suggestions on disciplining my new puppy and training him to do his business outside?
Here are a few things you may be missing in the yard (see the link for actual training).
1. Is the outside area small? (if it is then feeding out there and expecting him to go out there won’t fly as dogs don’t like to pee and poop where they eat or sleep so make sure there is plenty of room or feed him indoors then take him out straight away).
2. Is the outside too clean? If there is not a scent of his own urine he will be less keen to go there. Try to leave it for a while (i know this is not very nice for you but it will speed things up).

With proper training and rewarding for a job well done, by going outdoors to do his/her duties, it will take some time, but for the most part, a few months, tops. If there are any accidents in the house, be sure to continue to instill the proper punishment as well.
Have you heard of PorchPotty.com? They have a really great training pad for dogs. This can be placed in doors as well as outside your home, on a deck or patio and basically, for younger puppies, you train them to "visit" the porch potty which has synthetic and/or real sod, depending on preference and you familiarize your pet with the "grass/sod" and it’s known to cut the potty training in half for puppies. The outcome is that they the pet will go over to the porch potty to relieve themselves.
It’s great for small apartments and for potty training in the winter months, as you should shovel a spot out for them to go.

Hi there.
My dog used to pee all the time in the house when we first got him. Try not to discipline him but just say "no" when he starts and put him outside.
He will learn eventually but it just takes time. My dog used to pee as soon as I put him in the hall and closed the door to the sitting room. Im sure he used to do it to get back at me!
But once he got a couple of months old he just used to go to the back door and bark so he could be let out. He never pees in the house now and hasn’t for many years. Looking back it was a trying time but it will soon get better and you will soon forget that it ever happend.

Make sure you keep him out until he pees at least. Scold him when he goes in the house. Show him what he did get his face close to it and tell him NO BAD DOG be firm give him a couple little swats on the side of the rump not hard just so he knows you are not pleased. Take him out straight away and stay out until he pees. Then praise him like crazy. Tell him with a excited voice and a big smile GOOD PUPPY YOU ARE SO GOOD YOU WENT POTTY OUTSIDE. He will learn the words potty and outside. Dogs understand a whole lot more than people think. They will learn our language where we learn their gestures and thus we communicate.

Get a crate. Any time he eats, drinks, or wakes up, take him outside and use your phrase (go potti). If he goes, praise, and give him a treat. You may opt to put him in the crate at all times, but I only put mine in the crate when unsupervised. If caught in the act, immediately scoop him up and take outside using your phrase. You would be surprised how much praise and making a big deal out of it builds their confidence and encourages good behavior. Make sure you are consistent. If you aren’t, pup will take notice and quickly take control. Good luck
