What do you think it’s best for my puppy, crate training or outside?
My husband and I both work in the day time, I let the puppy out in the morning, but we both work 12 hours shift, and can’t exactly let our 3lb Shih Tsu out in the yard without supervision, since there’s an owl near by. Do you think we still train him to housebroken or do you train him to do his business on the papper mat?
I am crate training my puppy and he also sleeps in it at night. How do I get him to like begin in his crate?
I have read about crate training alot and they say that puppies eventually LOVE their crate. My 8 week old puppy goes to bed well but between 4:30 and 5:30am he needs to go to the bathroom. The problem is he does not want to go back in after that and he cries and howls for about 45 minutes. How can I get him to enjoy his crate and let me get some sleep until I can get up with him for the day? Is this possible?

Does anyone know how to crate train a puppy? or an idea of a crate training schedule?
I am planning on crate training my puppy and I want to know how long I should keep her in there, when I should take her out, when I should play with her,etc. Please help ! An example of a schedule would be great, but if not, anything will help. By the way, she will be 8 weeks when I get her.

Potty training my puppy. Instead of buying a crate, can I just put him in a small area with baby gate?
I have an 18 week old Shih Tzu puppy that I just got a week ago. He was already 100% potty-pad trained before I took him home. I would like to break that habit by taking him outside the house to potty instead. I’ve been reading a lot of information on it and I’ve come to learn that it is best to use a crate during potty training during times when a puppy is unsupervised. My question is if it would be just as effective to leave him confined in a small area (more or less about 3×3 feet) with a baby gate to keep him in instead of a crate? Would that work just as well?Any suggestions on how to make the transition from pad-training to going outside the house? I would really appreciate any help. A million of thanks in advance.
Should I start crate training my puppy the first day I bring her home?
I’m getting a new puppy in a few weeks. She will be eight weeks old. Should I start crate training her the first day I bring her home? She has never been in a crate with the breeder. I don’t know if I should put her in the crate at night her first night or what? When should “I start crate training her? Please help!

Crate training puppy in home with adult dogs?
Hi there, we have two adult dogs and will be adding a puppy to the family. The older dogs were both crate trained, but due to lack of space once they were about a year an a half we had to allow them free roam of the house (no problems)We want to crate train the puppy, but three crates just does not work for us. How difficult will this be to crate train the puppy with the other two running free?
